"We started attending New Life, La Plata about 20-years ago after meeting Pastor Mike Hilson and his wife Tina at a rest stop on our way back from visiting family in NC. We realize from the start that Pastor Hillson, Tina and the New Life staff were special as they welcomed us into the church. New Life was somehow different and from our first service we felt at home and knew we were where we were supposed to be. Over the years, we watched our church grow from a single Chapel with a couple of hundred members into the amazing, multi-faceted campus and place of worship it is today.
After retiring 14 years ago, our family moved from La Plata to NC’s seacoast. Although we now live several hundred miles away, and attend a local church, we have been able to stay connected via New Life's on-line services. Recently, we were excited to be able to take Communion on-line using sacraments that New Life sent us.
The innovative programs initiated by New Life, not only positively impact the Southern Maryland community but also places as far reaching as Haiti and Guatemala just to mention a couple of places. In addition to be an integral part of Charles County Maryland, the church's footprint has expanded greatly by planting new churches as well as Pastor Hilson serving as a mentor and launching platform for many young people beginning their service in the ministry.
I believe that the church's innovative programs including, but not limited to, weekly on-line services to circumvent COVID's disruptive impact, and now NEWLIFE @ Your House/WhereYouAre are remarkable. Recently, I have been watching a multi-series of "Ask the Pastor" where Pastor Sylvain ask Pastor Hilson "hard" biblical questions generated by church members. Many of these questions are the questions many of us have but are reluctant to ask. I am hoping that this program is extended as I look forward to hearing Pastor Hilson explains his understanding of what the bible is telling us.
As the program NEWLIFE @ WhereYouAre gets up and running, I am confident that it will be successful in bringing new people to Christ. Thanks, New Life for continuing to be an important part of our life.
